2011 Proof Gold Eagles Opening Sales

US Mint coinsThe United States Mint sold 29,353 Proof American Gold Eagle coins, which included each one in the Four-Coin Set, the latest coin sales figures revealed. That number was reached between the launch on Thursday, April 21 and Sunday, April 24.

Two sets had handsome gains, while sales of four annual silver sets were still suspended. The 2011 Mint Set went up by 17,210 and the 2011 Proof Set rose by 11,836. One interesting figure, though, was the inclusion of the suspended 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set that launched on April 1. The first recorded sales total came in at 78,054.

The other big news maker was the release of two 2011 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Silver Bullion Coins. 153,400 of the Gettysburg and Glacier National Park coins were scooped up by the Mint’s Authorized Purchasers right after they were made available.
