US Mint coinsFour new items appeared on the United States Mint’s coin sales figures, but none of them were the top story. The coin that stole the limelight was the 2010-P Hot Springs 5 oz Silver Uncirculated Coin that had 134 left on Sunday, May 8 and then reached its maximum on Thursday, May 12.

The four new items were the Mount Hood Quarter Three-Coin Set which debuted at 11,282, the American Gold Eagle Uncirculated Coin which opened at 1,098, and two new Eliza Johnson First Spouse Gold Coins. Her proof version started with 1,331 and her uncirculated hit 777. [click to continue…]

US Mint coinsOne newcomer and several high gains dominated the United States Mint’s latest coin sales figures. The biggest newsmaker was the debuting 2010-P Hot Springs Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coin which sold approximately 25,000 out of 27,000.

49 products in all outperformed their prior sales gains, including all of the commemoratives, for the second week in a row, and every Presidential $1 Coin Cover. US Mint coinsThe United States Mint sold 29,353 Proof American Gold Eagle coins, which included each one in the Four-Coin Set, the latest coin sales figures revealed. That number was reached between the launch on Thursday, April 21 and Sunday, April 24.

Two sets had handsome gains, while sales of four annual silver sets were still suspended. The 2011 Mint Set went up by 17,210 and the 2011 Proof Set rose by 11,836. One interesting figure, though, was the inclusion of the suspended 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set that launched on April 1. The first recorded sales total came in at 78,054. US Mint coinsDemand was up for all of the America the Beautiful Quarter Three-Coin Sets, as was to be expected since the Grand Canyon Three-Coin Set debuted. The latest United States Mint’s collector coin sales figures revealed the Grand Canyon Set was the third best seller of all of the numismatic offerings.

US Mint coinsThe new Glacier National Park Quarters Two Rolls Sets topped the United States Mint’s collector coin sales figures. The 2011 Glacier coin led with a combined total of 25,279 across all three options.

Overall, sales were up. The other top sellers included the 2011 Mint Set with 17,621, the 2011 Proof Set with 14,543, and the 2011 Silver Proof Set with 13,998. [click to continue…]

The 2011 Native American $1 coin and Andrew Johnson Presidential $1 Coin Covers were on the chart, but the 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set opening numbers were withheld.

US Mint coinsIn the most recent United States Mint coin sales figures, demand for bullion American Eagles climbed the most while many collector sets and coins retreated.

Silver Eagles led with a jump in sales of 697,500 by mid week and ended March with a total of 2,767,000. Presently, 2011 sales rang in at 12,479,000.

The one item collectors coveted the most in this round was the 2011 Silver Proof Set. They took in 19,640 of them, but that was less than the 25,940 previously. So far, a total of 344,840 have sold. [click to continue…]

The newest United States Mint product, the 2011 America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set, appeared at the top recent coin sales figures reveal.

The America the Beautiful Quarters Proof Set debuted earlier than last year and it did not start quite as strong. Collectors picked up 53,944 in the first four days compared to 73,756 in 2010.

The second biggest numismatic seller was the 2011 Silver Proof Set with a jump of 25,940. The 2011 Proof Set followed close behind with 21,581. [click to continue…]

2011 Buffalo 24-Karat Bullion Gold Coin

The United States Mint began selling 2011 American Buffalo 24-Karat Bullion Gold Coins on March 14, 2011.

As a bullion product, the US Mint does not offer the bullion coins directly to the public but instead sells them to a small network of distributors who then resell the coins for a small premium over the current price of gold. The coins then begin to make their way into the secondary market where investors, coin collectors and others can purchase them.

US Mint coinsCompared to recent weeks, United States Mint collector coins slowed in the latest coin sales figures. From 2011 commemoratives to annual sets to America the Beautiful Quarters, nearly every item pulled back. Bullion American Eagles, however, were different.

The 2011 Medal of Honor Coins went from a 37,317 increase in the prior week’s sales to only 12,747 in this round. Demand for US Army commemoratives eased too. They went from a 16,227 leap to one that was just 6,128. [click to continue…]
