Collector Gold 1 Oz Coins Lighten, Taylor Presidential $1 Bang

US Mint coinsAccording to the last US Mint sales figures, one ounce gold collector coins slowed compared to the prior report, while half ounce gold coins gained. It could be high prices that caused the slow down, but it’s more likely that most collectors and investors simply focused on bullion coins.

One ounce UHR Gold Coins and Buffalo Proofs rose by 1,091 and 3,017 this time compared to 1,098 and 4,316 on the last report. When the half ounce First Spouse Gold Coins were combined, collectors purchased 457 in this report and 412 in the last report.

The newest Mint products include Zachary Taylor’s Presidential $1 coins that launched on Nov. 19 and the Lincoln “Presidency” Cent that launched on Nov. 12. Over 53,000 Taylor Presidential $1 Rolls were gobbled in four days, and another 21,000 Lincoln “Presidency” Cent Two Roll Sets sold in seven days.
