US Mint Collector Coin Sales Update – June 20

Collector coins from the US Mint again experienced mixed demand for the second straight week in June.

Although bullion Gold and Silver Eagles Sales Surged, UHR $20 coins declined by 122 compared to the prior numbers and First Spouse Gold coin numbers were simply sluggish — all eight coins suffered through weakened demand. The US Mint lowered gold coin prices on Wednesday, which should help going forward.

Demand for Guam quarters in bags and rolls retreated, but were still exceptionally high. The same is true for the Lincoln Rail Splitter penny and 2009 Proof Sets. Braille Silver Dollar sales picked up slightly.

US Mint Sales: 2009 Proof Sets Hit 519K

In summary: 2009 Proof Sets sales retreated from their launch week highs but action was robust in week two, Braille Silver Dollars recovered from their prior negative showing, Guam quarter demand more than halved, and Lincoln Rail Splitter pennies are set to pass 26 million.

In finishing a second week of availability, 81,947 more of the 18-coin 2009 US Mint Proof Sets were purchased by collectors. The new total is 519,125, which represents a 18.7 percent increase in week-over-week sales.

Uncirculated Braille Silver Dollars climbed into positive territory following their recent reversal. The Mint reports a pick up of 499. In contrast…

First Spouse Gold Coins Sales- June 17

First Spouse Coin Sales Figures Sales of US Mint First Spouse Gold coins stalled across the entire series last week.

In looking at the latest number, the only happy campers are likely to be collectors who like the mintage figures to stay put and scarce.

In terms of new sales, Anna Harrison gold coins lead again with 55 of the uncirculated and 66 of the proof coins purchased.

US Silver Coin Sales – June 17

Sales Stats imageThe newest Mint sales figures show Braille Silver Dollars rising and silver sets declining, a 180-degree reversal compared to the prior week’s numbers.

Considering the uncirculated Braille coins actually went through a negative correction last time, there is little surprise they moved higher, but only by 499.
