American Eagles sales figures have been finalized for last month with Gold Eagles registered their 3rd best September ever with 115,500 and Silver Eagles marking their 2nd best September with 1,703,000.
September also has the distinction as the worst month of 2009 for Silver Eagles, but prior months have been historically impressive. There is already a new record in place highlighting just how strong demand has been for the year. Silver Eagle sales have passed 2008’s annual record total of 19,583,500. With nearly three months left in 2009, an already amazing 20,724,500 have been sold.
In other news, the pace of Gold Eagles picked up during the last seven days. 26,500 were added compared to the previous week’s 20,000 increase.

Collectors held back some this week, as demand for US Mint collector coins retreated behind the prior week.
The latest US Mint sales figures ending September 27 showed most collector product sales down. The major exception, and certainly the biggest surprise, was jump that the uncirculated 2009 Presidential Dollar Sets made.
The collector product that declined the most was the 2009 US Mint Proof Set, which only increased 25,794 compared to last week’s 42,077. The reason for the drop? The US Mint’s Fall catalog may have accounted for the several weekly spikes, and sales could simply be normalizing again.

American Silver Eagles passed a huge milestone Friday, topping an impressive 20,000,000 sold. More than likely, by next week’s time the eagles will record an all-time yearly high that reaches back to the series start in 1986. And that’s with a few months left in the year.
American Gold Eagles are still moving exceptional well compared to the last two months, although new weekly orders were down slightly from the last report. The gold coins jumped up another 20,000 versus the prior 24,000. Year-to-date sales for 2009 are at 945,000.

Demand for US Mint collector coins was certainly varied, revealed the September 20 sales figures.
The clad 18-coin Proof Mint Sets outpaced the other collector products, as usual. Sales jumped by more than 42,000 and don’t seem to be slowing down. The Silver Proof Set sales increase was about the same as last week, and their total is very close to the half million mark.
A new US Mint offering that should ignite some excitement is right around the corner. The 36-coin Uncirculated Mint Set will launch October 1.

Bullion Gold Eagles had a solid third week in September. Sales are on a pace to register as one of the better months in 2009.
The United States Mint sold another 24,000 of the gold coins during the last seven days to bring the monthly total up to 86,500. That is already higher than sales during August or July. Year-to-date figures stand at 925,000, which is more ounces of the Gold Eagles sold than all off 2008.
2009 Silver Eagles should top 20,000,000 this week or early next. 460,000 more were sold since last Monday for a new yearly tally of 19,824,500.

The clad 18-coin Proof Mint sets are shining even brighter this week. New US Mint figures show sales spiked 40,511 compared to last week’s gain of 27,913. The Silver Proof Set did not do as well, and probably won’t hit any milestones very soon.
One milestone hit, however, was the the 2009 Presidential Dollar Proof Set. It reached the 600K marker this week after growing by 3,196.

Gold Eagles are ahead of the recent monthly pace while Silver Eagles are crawling.
Both seemed to have gotten off to a slow start for the month, as the US Mint only posted the first September figures on the 9th (there was a three-day holiday in the mix).
But then the Gold Eagles jumped, and fast. With just 14 days into the month, a total of 62,500 have moved. The entire months of July and August each tallied 86,000 and 82,000, respectively. Of course in those months gold didn’t head up and then over the $1,000 an ounce level like it did last week.
Silver Eagles seem to be struggling and sleeping. The US Mint sold 600,000 so far this month. That’s not even near half of the 2,130,000 sold in August and even further behind July’s 2,810,000.

Proof sets were the clear winners this week. Lincoln Cent Proof Sets came in with the highest sales for the week, over 35,000 sets sold. Their total numbers climbed past 100K. Second place, in terms of weekly sales, was the clad 18-coin Proof Mint sets. Not only did the mint sets sell over 27,000 units, their total unit sales broke the 1 million mark. Silver Proof sets added over 16,000 units, making their new total over 470,000.
Professional Life two roll cent sets deserve mention too. Although weekly sales slowed a little compared to last week, they still reached a milestone with 204,472 total sold.

Ultra High Relief Double Eagle Gold coins fared well last week, but it will be interesting to see how much sales jump since the US Mint increased the price by $50 only a few days after raising the household limit from 10 to 25 coins.
Orders for the new 2009 Lincoln Cent Proof set started out strong, like other product launches this year with the redesigned Lincoln pennies. The clad 2009 Mint Proof Set continues to be most popular and will hit 1 million sold by next week. Silver Proof Sets might reach half of that number in another month or so.

Bullion Silver Eagles surged during the final seven days of August while Gold Eagle sales remained level with the prior week, the latest US Mint figures indicate.
Silver Eagles jumped 775,000 compared to the prior seven day rise of 475,000. The increase was the largest Monday to Monday tally in August. The eagles have reached an impressive 18,764,50.
Gold Eagles remained level with a same 25,000 increase. For the year, the bullion gold coins are at 838,500.
While the US Mint has not officially closed out August, that should happen Tuesday with September numbers flowing. All indication, however, are that the totals for both silver and gold eagles are final up through August.
