Silver Quarters Sets and Taylor First Spouse Gold Surge

US Mint coinsThere were not many movers and shakers in the latest United States Mint sales figures. Sales were slow overall, but the highlights included a single First Spouse coin takeover, a revival of one of the oldest sets, and a silver Eagle milestone.

First Spouse Gold coins have not been one of the strongest selling items in the Mint’s portfolio, but there was one standout in the most recent report. Collectors bought 108 more Margaret Taylor uncirculated coins than Buchanan’s Liberty proof coins, which had been the top seller since its release on September 2.

Silver enthusiasts stocked up on more 2009 DC/Territories Quarters Silver Proof Sets. Sales have been climbing the last few weeks while the price of silver has risen. 1,726 sold in this round compared to 1,070 and 845 previously.

Demand for gold and silver Eagle bullion, on the other hand, pulled back over the week, but the month-to-date total for silver landed at an even 2 million. The gain brought the year-to-date total to 27,480,500.
