Silver Eagles 10M, Medal of Honor Coin Sales Figures Hot

US Mint coinsSilver coins headlined this week’s coin sales figures. American Silver Eagle bullion coins topped the 10 million milestone and demand for Medal of Honor silver proof commemoratives remained hot. As for new 2011 products, the Yosemite Three-Coin Set debuted on the chart.

The United States Mint sold enough Silver Eagles to advance the 2011 annual sales to 10,330,500 by mid-week. Only four other years in the Eagles history have reached higher numbers. They were 2002, 2008, 2009, and 2010.

The hottest individual numismatic coin was the Medal of Honor Silver Proof Coin. They accounted for 22,788 of the 37,317 MOH commemoratives that the US Mint sold. Collectors also scooped up 16,227 of the US Army commemoratives.

Sets did very well in this report. The 2011 Proof Set added 36,785 and the Mount Hood Quarter Two-Roll Set surprisingly gained 17,334. Newcomer Yosemite Three-Coin Set began with 11,441.
