US Mint coinsHighlights for the week’s coin sales figures include red hot bullion American Silver Eagles and three new products. They were the Medal of Honor Commemorative Coins, the Andrew Johnson Presidential $1 Rolls and the 2011 Presidential $1 Proof Set.

The Silver Eagles closed out last month to the tune of 3.2 million, which was a new record for the month of February. The prior best February had been in 2009 when 2,125,000 sold. Silver Eagles March To 9 Million

US Mint coinsSilver Eagles marched to 9 million before the end of the second month of the year, after maintaining their quick pace. Sets were still popular picks on the numismatic front, the latest coin sales figures revealed.

The United States Mint has been selling a lot of Silver Eagles to their Authorized Purchasers. Weekly sales may have been shy of one million, but annual sales cleared the nine million marker by mid-week.

The newly released 2011 Uncirculated Mint Set could not keep up with the 2011 Proof Mint Set, which skyrocketed by 78,551 compared to 20,053. The Silver Proof Set climbed by 14,116. [click to continue…]

US Mint coinsSets were top sellers according to the most recent coin sales figures from the United States Mint. The 2011 Uncirculated Mint Set made its debut and was most popular. The 2011 Proof Mint Set and Silver Proof Set came in second and third.

The Uncirculated Mint Set, aka the Mint Set, opened with 191,391. They launched on Tuesday, February 8. Their opening numbers were not at strong as last year, but that has been the case for all of the annual sets so far this year. [click to continue…]

US Mint coinsThe first of two kinds of 2011 commemorative coins hit the charts in the latest coin sales figures from the United States Mint. The U.S. Army Commemorative Coins made their appearance at the top of the charts while the 2011 sets charged forth in strong force.

The most popular Army Commemorative Coins were the silver proof dollars. 46,895 of them left the US Mint shelves between their launch on Monday, January 31 and Sunday, February 6, 2011. The proof clad half dollars were second, with 30,162. Next, it was the 2011 Silver Proof Set that edged out the other coins, and sets, to take third place. They advanced by 23,151. US Mint coinsThe biggest mover was the bullion American Silver Eagles in the most recent coin sales figures from the United States Mint. They made a modest jump of 136,000. Modest best described their growth, since their previous weekly surges were 1.18 million and 1.32 million.

2011 Proof Set Shining Start

US Mint coinsThe newest offering from the United States Mint shined in the most recent coin sales figures. The 2011 Proof Set debuted at 253,144. It was a slower start than last year’s set, but it was also an earlier release.

For a comparison, the 2010 Proof Set’s inaugural sales were 296,379, and the 2009 version started with 437,178. The 2010 set is still being sold, while the 2009 set’s last reported sales total was 1,477,967. [click to continue…]

US Mint coinsIn the last United States Mint coin sales figures, the newly released Yellowstone National Park Quarter Three-Coin Set was the highest seller. Collectors took in 11,115 of them in four days. That was slightly higher than Hot Springs three quarter set, which began at 10,684 back in November.

The second biggest mover was the 2010 Mint Proof Set with a gain of 6,257. The Silver Proof Set was close behind with 5,007. [click to continue…]

United States Mint annual bullion coin sales figures in 2010 were record-breaking for American Silver Eagles, weaker for American Gold Eagles and higher for American Buffalo Gold coins.

In total, the US Mint sold 36,917,000 ounces of gold and silver in bullion coins in 2010. It did not produce bullion American Platinum Eagles for a second straight year, so those again came in at zero. [click to continue…]
